Manchester - Manchester City finally get one of their main prey in the transfer market this summer Kevin De Bruyne. However, to bring De Bruyne, City have to break the their transfer record.
City touted must spend 52 million pounds to buy De Bruyne from Wolfsburg. That number reportedly could swell up to 58 million pounds.
Thereby, the transfer of De Bruyne passes the amount spent City to buy Raheem Sterling from Liverpool. Sterling, who also recently joined the City, was recruited with the cost of 49 million pounds.
De Bruyne now become the second most expensive player ever bought by a Premier League club. Prices Belgian attacking midfielder was only lost from Angel Di Maria, who purchased Manchester United from Real Madrid for 59.7 million pounds last year. However, Di Maria now move to Paris Saint-Germain.
In the City, De Bruyne will wear costumes back numbered 17. He has signed a six-year contract with the Citizens.
"I want to reach the highest level as a player and I think the most important thing is at the end of the season we can be happy and may have some titles," said De Bruyne in the City's official website.
"I think this is the most important for the club, the players, and of course the fans," he added.
