De Bruyne transfer saga was finally completed last weekend. The Belgian international midfielder joined City with a six-year contract and the value of transfers that reportedly reached 58 million pounds.
De Bruyne admits that his decision to accept the offer from City not out of persuasion Kompany. Teammate at the Belgian national team convinced him to leave Wolfsburg and move to the Etihad Stadium.
"He called me a few times and we talk on the phone. He said that the club can keep me and they will help me, and told me to follow your heart and mind when it comes to the City I would be happy," said De Bruyne in an interview with CityTV.
"It's always fun when you have a few acquaintances. I know Vinnie really well. He can help me to adapt it better. He is the one who spoke the same language as me," he said.
Transfer rumors prolonged recognized De Bruyne could make affected mentally. But now after everything is completed, he can return to play with calm.
"In a few weeks there was a lot of pressure. Mentally, I may not be 100% in the last two games so I keep playing and keep practicing so physically I am okay. Now I can play football again," he said.
